Account lockout due to fragile recovery and passkey failures
Users are experiencing critical lockouts when losing access to their primary email, as the login UI often hides password options in favor of email codes. Additionally, passkeys are failing to work after updates or domain redirects, leaving users with no viable way to regain account access.

I just updated the app on my phone, and now I can’t get back in at all. Had set a passkey way back and have been using that, but now it simply isn’t working.
Notion.so now redirects to notion.com, and it isn’t accepting my existing passkeys (I tried iCloud and 1Password).
the current UI does not reliably expose it. In my testing with a newly created account, the password option appeared once with no obvious trigger, almost like winning a lottery, and then disappeared again.
This becomes a serious problem if the account’s primary email is no longer accessible. In that case, the normal recovery path can get stuck
the login page only offers email verification codes and does not show any password login option.
