Clients using AI to challenge legal work and advice
Clients are increasingly using AI to check legal work or draft requests, leading to unprofessional interactions and additional workload for lawyers. This has forced some practitioners to add specific clauses to their fee and retainer agreements to manage AI-generated requests.

clients think the internet is a good lawyer and use AI to "check" you. Had to put a clause in my fee agreement about AI.
they upload your work to AI and here comes the client email, “Hey Joe, do you think you missed or you should add this [ ___] or this to the contract at paragraph 2a”?
I’ve now added a section in my retainer agreement on AI. Ie, possibility of blowing privilege, but also, “client will be billed for any time expended responding to AI generated requests.”
