Codex context window and auto-compaction failures
We are experiencing frequent and critical failures with Codex's context management. The auto-compaction process often triggers API schema errors or fails entirely for long-running, media-heavy threads, leaving them unusable and unable to produce handoff summaries.

whenever the context window of a session becomes full, Codex reports the following error instead of automatically compacting the context: Codex ran out of room in the model's context window.
I’m seeing “Context automatically compacted” extremely frequently in Codex.
We had a very valuable Codex project thread become unusable after remote compaction started failing.
automatic context compaction can break the current thread with an API validation error. The error says that an input item has type context_compaction , but the API schema only accepts compaction and compaction_trigger
Main concern it interrupting agent in middle of modification or thought process.
