Issues with nested shared families in Revit
Users are experiencing various failures when working with nested shared families, including inconsistent parameter updates during reloads and API reliability issues. In Revit 2026, shared nested families in tap fittings cause creation errors and system crashes.

when i change some parameters for Family B within Family A, and then reload Family A (host) to the project, the project doesn't update the new parameters of Family B (nested)
The API method proves to be unreliable for reloading families in a project, as it only upgrades the parent family.
since Revit 2026 when we create a Tap this produces the following error: “The fitting family contains unsupported nested elements or sub-elements. Please update the routing preference by selecting a different fitting type.”
If we create a Tap connection through our programming Revit sometimes even crashes completely.
