Difficulty managing and persisting dashboard time range settings

Users are struggling to save custom time range defaults and maintain their selection when switching between dashboards. There is also a significant need to pass the selected time range into variables for use in queries, which currently appears limited or broken.

The dashboard defaults to 6 hours when I open my dashboard, i have tried to change and save the dashboard, but it still defaults to 6 hours every time.

Is there any way i can get the time range we selected on the dashboard into a variable, so that i can use the same in my query.

The variable just sticks to 1d even I select Last 48 hours.
