False positive alerts due to insufficient data or spikes

Alerts trigger immediately on new data series because there is not enough historical data to balance the average. Users struggle to configure alerts that ignore temporary spikes or handle new items without causing false positives.

Is there some way to prevent an alert to trigger when there is not enough data for that series, or some other way to prevent false positives?
