Solid tools fail on non-solid objects and nested instances

Users are unable to perform solid boolean operations (e.g., subtract) because SketchUp does not recognize their objects as solid. The tool provides no clear feedback on why an object is not solid, leaving users confused about grouping, components, and nested instances. This blocks essential workflows like preparing models for 3D printing.

I cant subtract one from another because it says all my objects but one is not solid! is there a way to make it so the other objects are solid?

Why won’t it let me subtract one from the other, when I used to be able to do this? Or better yet, how do I do this? Stumped…Norbert

I tried following @JimD 's advice but I am unable to select a second solid to subtract the first one.

It was that I hadn’t grouped each object. Too bad the tool didn’t give me a clue on that.
