We're getting requests from staffers that are clearly AI-drafted—confusing, stacked with every contingency, and full of assumptions that don't fit our industry. A simple two-line question now turns into nonsense that would take a full day to answer at face value. It's an incredible waste of time.

I am in-house counsel, and have started to get requests for legal opinions/guidance from staffers that are clearly AI drafted. Because of this, the questions are confusing, often stack questions to cover every contingency, and make broad assumptions that are inconsistent with our industry. A year ago, I would get simple two line requests with a clear question and a clear objective the department is trying to accomplish. Now, I get absolute non-sense. How are in-house counsel dealing with these requests? Realistically, if I tried to answer requests like these at face value, it would take a full day, and would be an incredible waste of time.
