The story
The pain
We manage dozens of Jira projects and need to coordinate releases across them, but there's no built-in way to share a version across projects. We resort to manual workarounds like creating versions with the same name or using automation, but releasing still requires clicking 'release' on each version individually. Cross-project version tracking is locked behind Premium, and even then it's virtual on Cloud—it never writes back to issues as a real fixVersion.

My understanding is that kind of "multi-project version tracking" is available in Premium and above. However, since we only have Standard, I use a similar approach for versions across multiple team spaces. I used to manually create the versions with the same name, now I have a Jira automation that I manually trigger that will create them based off the due date of my trigger ticket.
Worth flagging: everyone points to Plans (advanced roadmaps), but on Cloud those cross-project releases are virtual - they only live in the plan and never write back to issues as a real fixVersion. so JQL, automation and release reports still see N separate versions.
I was hoping it would be able to sync release notes and jira issues across multiple jira boards, but unfortunately it is unable to do this. It might be a restriction from Atlassian, but did hope this application could do that. However, it does create the versions across the projects you specify.
Not very handy for portfolios with dozens of projects and versions since many screens operates with just version number without project code. Will change my mark when it's fixed.
