The story
The pain
We run established sites with strong traffic, but new pages we publish since early this year mostly end up in 'Discovered – currently not indexed' and stay there for months. Manual indexing via URL Inspection works within minutes, but Google won't crawl them automatically through sitemaps or internal links. We've tried everything — resubmitting sitemaps, adding stronger internal links, cleaning up thin content — but the problem persists.

The strange part is that if I use URL Inspection and manually request indexing, the same URLs usually get crawled and indexed within minutes. This happens consistently. So it doesn’t look like Google *can’t* crawl the pages. The pages are accessible, indexable, and apparently acceptable once submitted manually. Google just doesn’t seem to want to crawl them through normal discovery anymore.
I launched this WordPress site earlier this year, around March. It’s an English business site. At first Google indexed a decent number of pages. Then around April almost all of them disappeared from the index. Only the homepage stayed. It’s been a few months now and most pages are still stuck on “Crawled – currently not indexed.”
