The story

The pain

We're tired of registrars like Namecheap and GoDaddy hitting us with unexpected costs and shady practices. Namecheap doesn't disclose personal information sharing upfront, then springs it on us later, while their domain renewals are outrageously expensive. GoDaddy has refused to flag a phishing site and has front-run our desired domain names, making us question why anyone still uses them.

Yeah, they're getting really scammy. Even domain renewals have become so expensive that I'm transferring my domains to Namecheap.

100%, the problem is that namecheap.com does not request it at the registration like "porkbun.com" does. you do your stuffs like nothing going wrong, and then they will hit you with that personal information sharing after a while. that's why it's smelly...

I'd avoid Namecheap entirely though regardless of this situation as their domain renewals are outrageous. I recently left them and closed my account after realizing I was paying several dollars more per domain to renew than Porkbun.
