The pain
We're tired of paying exorbitant fees for e-signature solutions like DocuSign, especially when we need API access for automation. Open-source alternatives like Docuseal offer unlimited signature requests at a fraction of the cost, but finding a good one with a solid document editing surface is still a challenge.

Docusign is the worst. Way overpriced. Adobe has many subscriptions which include its e-signature offering. Worth looking into if you already have it (we did). If not, Docuseal mentioned above. Opensource for the win. Do not waste $8-9k on Docusign.
trying to do exactly this. i think the API costs compared to flat monthly is a big pain in the ass, and unless im mistaken, using the flat monthly through your own wrapper is only possible through claude code, which requires remote connection to a computer at all times. id much rather use an open source harness and call it a day, but none of the harnesses i have tried so far have a reasonably useful document editing surface like Harvey and the like do, and id like to be able to draft on mobile (at least in theory)
I’ve transitioned to Docuseal a year and a half ago, mainly for API capabilities like you and never looked back. It’s opensource, unlimited signature requests at $20/month per user.
