Small business owners oversell when Square and Shopify inventory sync fails
We run our businesses across Square for in-person sales and Shopify for online orders, but the two systems don't talk to each other.
“The spinning and resetting is not a bug you can fix, it is what the connection actually is. Etsy and Square do not talk to each other. Whatever is bridging them is a third party app polling both platforms on an interval, usually somewhere between 15 minutes and an hour, and pushing whatever it read the last time it checked. During that gap both channels think they have the full count, which is exactly how you oversell, and "spinning forever" is usually that poll failing silently and retrying.”
