The pain
We're being squeezed by BigCommerce's new pricing. Our monthly costs have skyrocketed due to open payment provider fees and GMV thresholds, making it impossible to grow without being penalized. We're being forced to migrate to platforms like WooCommerce to regain control over costs and avoid these predatory charges.

Yep. I'm so glad I left. I switched to woocommerce and, even though there is a lot more stuff to manage, I get way more control over how and where and who I deal with as well as the costs. With BC I was actually forcing all my resellers to deal with me directly and not through the site just to keep my GMV low and not get charged additional for "open payment providers".
Im so livid at this bs im probably just goingto cancel BC. Im lucky enough to be a veteran ecommerce developer so it's time to finally test woocommerce.
yea, this is bs, all manual and imported orders are subjected to this OPP fee. I just spent a whole night with claude, I now setup dummy woo commerce site for my marketplace orders to go to then it sync with sellbrite. everything is free running on my NAS.
The biggest problem these days is obviously the new payment gateway fees. They killed the only really competitive advantage that they had over Shopify, they are just "shopify if you're willing to pay transaction fees, just not as good"
My BC cost went from $84 to $427 with their pricing changes. I'm literally migrating my site as I write this comment. F*ck BC and Shopify. OP is right and they are predators that prey on small business owners who are too busy or risk averse to migrate.
